What lineage information do you need?

To create your ancestral cards, we gather key details that help identify each person and their connection within your family line.

This includes:

  • Full name
  • Birth date and location (to calculate astrological and Human Design insights)
  • Death date and location (to help trace their life journey and timeline)

The more accurate the information, the more complete and meaningful their card will be.

What if I don't have all the details for each person?

It’s completely normal to have gaps in your family line, especially the further back you go. We’ll still create a card for each woman in your mother line, even if some details are missing—her presence still matters deeply.

If we don’t have a birth date or location, we won’t be able to include astrological or Human Design insights, but we’ll still include any information you do have and honor her with a place in your deck.

We also offer genealogy support boost when creating your deck. With this add-on, you’ll be paired with one of our experienced genealogists to support your research process. Whether you’re starting with just a few names or have a well-developed tree, we’ll help you validate lineage details and fill in missing pieces via public records. It’s a wonderful option if you’re unsure where to begin—or want to ensure the most complete and accurate ancestral information for your custom deck.

And if you discover more over time? We offer one-off card reprints, so you can update her story whenever new details come to light.

What if I only know of a few women in my line?

That’s a perfectly fine place to start, and in fact, it can be a meaningful moment to begin deepening your connection to your lineage.

With our genealogy boost add-on, we’ll pair you with one of our experienced researchers who can help you uncover and validate information via public records about the women in your matrilineal line.

You might be surprised by how much can be uncovered. Even starting with just a name or two can open the door to a much deeper ancestral connection. We’re here to walk that path with you.

What online ancestors sites do you accept downloads from?

Most major ancestry websites allow you to download your family tree as a GEDCOM file, a universal format for genealogical data. We use GEDCOM files to pull in your information, so you don’t have to spend time entering it all by hand.

We currently offer step-by-step instructions for downloading GEDCOM files from Ancestry.com and MyHeritage.com. If you use a different site and need help finding your download options, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to guide you if we can.

Prefer to work in a spreadsheet instead? That’s welcome too. We provide a simple template to get you started.

Gifting & Add-Ons

How do I add the genealogy support add-on?

If you haven’t placed your order yet, you can add genealogy support when selecting your product details (such as deck color). The cost will be automatically included in your final total.

Already placed your order but want to add it on? No problem—you can order genealogy support here, and we’ll guide you through the process step by step.

Can I gift a deck to someone else?

Absolutely! If the gift is for someone within your mother line, you can easily reprint your own deck by logging into your account or contacting us.

If it’s for someone outside of your lineage—or you’d like to give them the joy of creating their own—we offer digital gift cards in various amounts. A Root Weavers gift card makes a meaningful, one-of-a-kind present for birthdays, memorials, Mother’s Day, or any special occasion. Gift cards are delivered via email to the recipient of your choosing.

Privacy & Data Use

How do you keep my information private and secure?

We take your privacy seriously and treat your ancestral information with the utmost care and respect. All lineage data is securely stored on Google Cloud, with user verification in place for all accounts.

We do not sell or share your information—ever. Your details are used solely to create your custom deck and are only retained in case you’d like to request a reprint or update in the future.

If at any point you'd prefer your information be removed, just reach out. We're happy to delete your files and data upon request—no questions asked.

Ordering & Production Timeline

What are the turn-around times? How long does it take to receive my cards?

Turnaround time depends partly on how quickly you’re able to provide your lineage information and then review and approve the final details.

In most cases, you can expect to receive your cards within 1 month of ordering (1.5 months if you've added on genealogy support)—barring any shipping delays, customs holdups, or higher-than-usual order volume.

We promise: they’re worth the wait.

Can I order my full family tree, or a Father Line?

At Root Weavers, we chose to begin by honoring the Mother Line—recognizing the deep, often unspoken influence of the women who came before us.

That said, we’re listening. If there's strong interest in a Father Line or full family tree offerings, we’d love to expand our family of products to reflect that.

Changes, Errors & Reprints

What if there is an error on one of my cards?

If you spot a mistake—whether it’s a typo, incorrect detail, or printing issue—please let us know as soon as possible.

We’ll review the error and, if it was on our end, we’ll gladly issue a corrected reprint at no cost to you. If the error came from the information submitted in your order, we can still offer a one-off reprint for a small fee.

Our goal is to make sure each card feels accurate, meaningful, and worthy of its place in your lineage.

What if details change about a person?

It’s not uncommon to discover new information over time—a different birth location, a corrected date, or a piece of the story you didn’t have before.

We offer a one-off reprint option so you can update an individual card without needing to reorder your entire deck.

Your lineage is always evolving, and we’re here to help your deck evolve with it.

Refunds & Returns

Can I be refunded if I'm unable to provide enough details?

If you’re having trouble gathering lineage information, we’re here to help. Our genealogy support add-on pairs you with an experienced researcher who can help fill in the gaps and guide you through the process.

That said, if you're still unable to move forward after receiving support, we’re happy to offer a full refund—as long as your data hasn’t yet been approved for printing.

Once you’ve approved the data and we begin the design and print process, we’re no longer able to issue full refunds due to the custom nature of your order.

If you’re unsure whether you’ll be able to gather enough information, feel free to reach out—we’ll help you assess next steps before committing.

What if I’m unhappy with my cards? Can I return them?

We put great care into every detail of your custom deck, and we want you to feel deeply connected to your lineage through it.

Because each deck is custom-made, we’re unable to accept general returns. However, if your cards arrive damaged or there’s a printing issue, please contact us right away. We’ll gladly review the issue and offer a reprint if it was caused on our end.

If you’re truly unhappy with your order for any other reason, reach out—we’re here to listen. In some cases, we may offer a refund once the cards are returned. We’ll walk you through the return process and what options are available.
